Mrs Oludewa THORPE

She rose to the position of Company Secretary of NIDB Trustees Ltd before disengaging from the Bank in 1990. She is currently the National Secretary of the National Coordinating Committee of the Shareholders Association. By virtue of this position she is actively involved in the current privatization exercise. She single handedly organized a national seminar on privatization, in the year 2000 at Abuja at which the Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises represented the Vice –President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She is an active member of the Nigeria - Japan Association and a member of the International Bar Association.

Mrs. Thorpe is an expert in company and commercial laws. Her areas of specialization are Securities law, Secured Credit transactions, Law of business organizations, Company and Commercial laws.

Her vast and varied experience both as legal counsel at the   Nigerian Industrial Development Bank (now Bank of Industry) and as Company Secretary of NIDB TRUSTEES Ltd enables her to advise on the most intricate questions concerning both local and international finance and other commercial transactions. As the National Secretary of the National coordinating Committee of Shareholders Associations she has hands-on experience in dealing with the varied interests in the corporate domain.   Her specialized training and experience would be relevant in all assignments relating to international commercial agreements and trans – border transactions.

She has only recently (May 2006) concluded her assignment as a member of a team of experts put together by the Nigerian Securities Exchange Commission which reviewed and redrafted the Investment and Securities bill, for re – enactment.
